We offer complete tops including the sink in most popular sizes or we will construct a custom size top to fit your vanity cabinet. As the sink is usually surrounded by the marble in our designs, and not sitting on the marble, we need the sink to complete the top. If you desire a custom size top we will need the outside dimensions of your vanity base and the overall size you want the top to be. Fixtures are not usually included but we will supply them if desired. |
We need to have the sink to construct your custom top - this assures a perfect fit. We can use almost any size or shape sink you desire. Marble is placed around the edges of most sinks if the rim thickness is .375 inch or greater. Thinner sinks are bonded to the top of the marble. Under counter sinks and top mounted basins may also be used. We will marble over the entire sink should you desire an all marble top - this requires an under top mounted sink - we don't recommend this style because of stain problems encountered with some items normally used in the bath - but for light use in a powder room the design is awesome. |
Every top is hand crafted allowing us to build virtually any design you choose. We have a large selection of generic designs and encourage our customers to take a part in the design process. We will not copy another crafters designs - we want our products to be unique. Acid etched pieces may also be incorporated into a top as inlays or the backsplash - please see our Etching pages. |
The top core is constructed of high density particle board, a very stable material, totally encapsulated in waterproof resin before the sink and marble are added. The finished edges are slightly under 2 inches thick and drop .75 inch below the top of the base unit. Marble used in our tops is of the highest quality and may be either polished or tumbled to a approximate size of .625 inch square by .375 inch high. We carefully maintain a height of .375 on all pieces assuring full contact with the core by grinding the pieces instead of "nipping" them. The pieces are individually bonded to the top with a state of the art NASA approved adhesive and are totally waterproof - we do not use "thinsets" on our products. Our tops are finished with grouts that are resistant to washout and require minimal maintenance. |
For the simplest method of mounting your top we recommend clear silicone type adhesive. This method works well with all common base types and a small dab at each corner is all that is required to secure your top. Many different brands of silicone adhesive are available at your local hardware store. Some bases incorporate gussets on each corner where a hole is usually drilled to attach the top. If you decide to retain this mounting method just be sure the screws aren't too long - they may only penetrate the top about .625 inch. |
